DESCRIPTION
Thrombin is a serine protease purified from bovine plasma for digestion of GST-tagged proteins or other tagged proteins that contain the thrombin recognition sequence. Specific cleavage - enables site-specific cleavage of fusion proteins containing an accessible recognition sequence. Functionally free of other clotting factors such as plasminogen and plasmin. Thrombin protease for fusion protein cleavageThrombin is used to digest fusion proteins prepared from pGEX vectors containing the recognition sequence for thrombin. The following vectors encode that sequence: pGEX-1λT, pGEX-2T, pGEX-2TK, pGEX-4T-1, pGEX-4T-2, and pGEX-4T-3. Cytiva's thrombin protease is “protein friendly,” preserving protein structure and stability throughout purification to maximize samples and results. The product also streamlines methodology, allowing users to detect expressed proteins by direct labeling of fusion products in vitro.Successful use in published researchThrombin protease from Cytiva is used for GST cleavage in a variety of research applications, including: Dissociation of Endos from beads during study of protein phosphatase 2A in mitosisPurification of LR11 transmembrane and cytoplasmic domains during study of human APP binding protein LR11/SorLA for NMR studies
