Chromolith® Si has been developed as a monolithic normal phase for the separation of polar non-ionic organic compounds. Chromolith® Si column is available in the dimension 100-4.6 mm.
All Chromolith® columns are made of monolithic silica with a characteristic bimodal pore structure. Chromolith® 4.6mm columns have macropores with 2 µm diameter, giving a column efficiency exceeding 80,000 plates/meter. The mesopores are 13 nm (130 Å), the surface modification is octadecylsilan with full end-capping.
Chromolith® RP-8 endcapped monolithic silica column offers high throughput, extremely long column lifetime, lower matrix sensitivity, and added column performance by column coupling. Chromolith® RP-8 endcapped column is based on a high-purity silica to reduce the negative effects of trace metals. It is chemically modified with n-alkyl chains with a high ligand density and then fully endcapped in order to reduce the effect of unmodified silanol groups. In comparison to a Chromolith® RP-18 endcapped column, a Chromolith® RP-8 endcapped column offers a better retention for hydrophobic compounds. Merck's LiChrosorb® is one of the most successful and reliable packing materials used in HPLC. LiChrosorb® packing materials offer the complete program of non-polar derivatives (RP-8, RP-18, RP-select B), polar derivatives (Si 60 and Si 100) and medium-polar derivatives (NH2, CN and DIOL).
